Quảng Phú Cầu Incense Village

Quảng Phú Cầu Incense Village, Ung Hoa district

35km drive from Hanoi but it is a good one hour drive.

Incense sticks here are made from vầu trees, a type of big bamboo which they usually sourced from Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, and Laos.

Big bamboos are gathered from the forest, chopped down and split into thin sticks and soak in water for days. Then machines are used to make the tips rounded and to polish them before the perfume paste is used to coat half of the sticks. Then dry them under the sun. Such tedious work.

This village is famous for its incense sticks because they only use natural herbal scents for their perfume paste; such as agarwood, cinnamon, cloves and anise.

Some are used to make mats

This is a cute but BADDDDD doggie coz it tried to bite me!

Trying my hands on putting the fragrant paste onto the incense sticks.  They use 28 medicinal herbs including cinnamon, anise and cloves to create the perfume paste.

We went to the factory to see incense sticks being produced in bulk.
