Piazza del Popolo - The People's Square is an oval neoclassical square.

This was once the place where you entered Rome if you are coming from the North. It was the main entrance to the city during the Roman Empire.

3 important streets part from the square - Via del Babuino (left), Via di Ripetta (right), and the centre is Via del Corso, one of the main streets in Rome.

The Gate in the Aurelian Wall is named Porta del Popolo.

The Egyptian obelisk named Flaminian Obelisk is supported by a fountain with 4 lionesses at the corners spouting water. It is covered with hieroglyphics and dedicated to Ramses II.

Twin churches - Santa Maria in Montesanto (left) and Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
