Lido de Paris

Lido de Paris is a legendary Parisian cabaret located at Champs-Elysees. It is one of the symbols of the nightlife in Paris.

The Lido was known to be a public swimming pool with an artificial beach and musical performances. Then it turned into a cabaret theatre at the end of WWII. Hence, the crazy and wild Paris nightlife began!

Margaret Kelly and her famous glamorous cabaret dancers joined The Lido in 1948.  The Bluebell Girls troupe were the highlight of the shows at the Lido. Their costumes are glittery and sensual but it demonstrates admiration for the female beauty and grace.

We opted for dinner first and then the cabaret show. I think we paid about 150 Euro per person at that time. Our show was called Bonheur which translates to Happiness.  The central theme was about a woman discovering happiness through 4 different worlds. Apparently in that show, there were 23 different sets and more than 600 costumes with pearls, sequins and feathers. They were extravagant.
